All About Me
In May of 1999, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History,
with a concentration in Economics, from the State University of New York,
College at Oswego. My interest in computers and technology led me to pursue a
computer coordinator position at Ss. Joachim and Anne School in Queens Village.
As computer coordinator, I was responsible for integrating technology into the
classroom. I taught computer and researching skills that ranged in subject
area, but often pertained to the social studies curriculum. I trained teachers
in the technology and in the ways in which they can use this technology in the
classroom.
I also helped write a grant, which enabled Ss. Joachim and Anne School to purchase: 15 laptop computers, the wireless Internet through DSL lines, 3 desktop computers, 3 printers, and a scanner. SSJA was able to make great advances in their technology while I was the computer coordinator. Some of my students’ projects included: A digital yearbook, power point presentations, web quests, and concept mapping through Inspiration software.
Another one of my responsibilities at SSJA included being a part of our crisis management team. My training, and certification to train others, in CPR, AED, and First Aid has prepared me well for this role. I also volunteered to be a coach for the 8th grade girls' basketball team. As coach, I held two practices a week and had a game every weekend of the season.
In September of 2002, I started teaching the subject that I most have a passion for: Social Studies at Richmond Hill High School. I have taught ninth grade ESL and currently teach three global studies classes as well as two computers for business classes. I also earned a Masters in Secondary Education and Youth Services, with a concentration in Social Studies at Queens College in May of 2002. Click here to view my thesis.
